Migration

From Splitwise to NomadCrew: Travel Workflow Migration

Splitwise solves balancing. This migration plan adds the missing layer: chat context, task ownership, and live decision flow for group trips.

Only need to settle this trip now? Use the free expense splitter, then settle through Venmo, Revolut, or your bank.

6-Step Migration Plan

  1. Export or snapshot current group balances for your trip.
  2. Create your trip group in NomadCrew with the same member set.
  3. Set trip categories: transport, stay, food, activities, emergency.
  4. Create three owner tracks: expenses, itinerary decisions, logistics tasks.
  5. Run a first day test: add two expenses, assign two tasks, post one decision update.
  6. Freeze new entries in old tools after launch day to avoid split records.

Risk Controls During Migration

  • Pick a clear cutover date.
  • Use one owner for final balance reconciliation.
  • Pin a group note that old and new entries must not overlap.
  • Review settlement summary after day two.

FAQ

What moves from Splitwise to NomadCrew?

There is no automatic Splitwise import. Set up the active trip and its members manually, keep a snapshot of the old ledger, and start new expense entries after a clear cutover date. Past balances remain in Splitwise or your export.

What does not migrate from Splitwise?

Your full Splitwise history, recurring balances, attachments, and cross-group ledger do not move automatically. Keep Splitwise or an export as the record for completed trips, and use one clear cutover date for new entries.

Can NomadCrew send settlement payments?

No. NomadCrew’s in-trip expense tracking is early, and it does not move money. Settlement happens outside the app through Venmo, Revolut, a bank transfer, or another payment service your group already uses.

Is NomadCrew available on Android?

Android is in closed testing, not publicly launched. The iPhone app is available now; Android travelers can use the closed-testing page to check access.

Should we keep Splitwise after moving?

Keep it if you need a mature synced ledger across many groups, detailed historical records, or a workflow your group already trusts. You can also keep old trips in Splitwise and use NomadCrew only for the live coordination of a new trip.
